I took my car (98' Toyota) to oil change and they told me that my car needs this and this and that. Oh my goodness... my car eats up my wallet :)))))) I know that they have to do their work (recommending to the customer) to make their business run. So, I just took care of two things this time and I will do other two things next time. I hope they are honest enough to tell me the truth, not just try to make some money.

It will be nice to have friend(s)/partner that he/she knows about vehicle and able to tell me when to do which maintenance.

Thanks every one for your in put. I did oil change and transmission/transaxle service this time. Their recommendation was to replace the wiper blades and air filter, and refill the AC fluid.

Yes, my friend has told me the place but their business hours do not work with my work schedule.

My Toyota Corolla is still running good. I really need to know about which type/kind of maintenance should I get it done when ... once a year or etc. I will Google that site.

The post Bernie tried to put up, which didn't--and won't--post, is I'm pretty sure a website called "THE FAMILY CAR LEARNING CENTER."

MM removes all URLs.  So just Google the quoted site above.  It's a really cool site with tons of info for those of us who know nothing, or close to it, about how our cars work.

With a 12 year old vehicle you are bound to have some surprises. You might do better to get rid of what you have and get something a little newer. The money saved by not having to make constant repairs on an old car should offset the additional cost in buying a newer vehicle. Or you can import something like this from China. Just kidding...

The replacement of the timing belt at recommended time is very important. You can have a lot of damage if your car is the type that crashes the values when the belt breaks. Here is a good site
for general info about cars.

Find a shop you can trust to maintain your car and then only have your car serviced there. Have a friend advise you on a place you can trust. Coworkers and neighbors should be able to help.
